Komyokan Aikido Association
The KAA is a new Aikido organisation (formed in September 1999) with Dojos spread from the south of England to the Highlands of Scotland. The Senior Instructor of the KAA is Shihan Ezra , whose full-time Dojo in Birkenhead, Merseyside is the Headquarters of the organisation. The KAA is a member of the British Aikido Board. The BAB is the Sports Council’s official, recognised body for Aikido and has its own structure for levels of Coaching Awards. Ezra Sensei and some of the KAA Instructors hold the BAB Coaching certificates at various levels – Ezra Sensei is acknowledged as one of the BAB’s Senior Coaches.
Before the formation of the KAA Shihan Ezra had been in the British Aikido Federation since its start in 1968. He had been BAF’s National Committee for over 20 years. He was the Senior Instructor for that organisation for over a decade and also the Chairman. It became apparent that there were differences of beliefs and ideals within the BAF and so sadly and with some reluctance, Ezra Sensei left the BAF.
